This year at Vinitaly, Celestino Gaspari presented the new 2024 vintage of Valpolicella Rêverie in a special guise: alongside the traditional bottle, the wine will also be released in the fiasco, a direct tribute to a rural memory that once accompanied the everyday life of families in Valpolicella.
Valpolicella has always been the foundation and soul of our winemaking world. Enclosing it today in a fiasco means bringing back a vessel that for centuries has preserved the simplicity and authenticity of everyday drinking: a wine placed on the table even after a day of work, to be shared with meals and to give value to conviviality.
There is a cyclical thread linking past and present. Originally, Valpolicella was a “sustenance wine”: easy, immediate, created to accompany meals and support daily life. Only later did we seek greater complexity and refinement, responding to different needs. Today, paradoxically, that original simplicity becomes modern again: the younger generations are not looking for superstructures, but for the sincere expression of nature, a wine that speaks directly without filters.
This is why Valpolicella Rêverie 2024 in the fiasco is not a nostalgic gesture, but a choice of modernity. Because a wine so ancient that it feels ultra-modern restores to Valpolicella the role it deserves: that of a wine of the people, of the land, and timeless—ready to tell its story today with the same authentic voice as yesterday.
